Choose the correct OS & architecture (Windows 32‑bit, Windows 64‑bit, macOS, Linux).
Use the “full / offline / standalone” installer rather than the web / stub installer (the download links above are full installers).
After download, you may verify the installer’s digital signature or checksum (if Mozilla publishes them in their FTP archive) to ensure it wasn’t tampered with.
If updating from an older Thunderbird, close Thunderbird before installing the new version (to avoid file conflicts).
The installation should preserve your existing emails, settings, and profiles.
