Today, it’s the HP Omnibook Ultra, a consumer laptop that’s in the premium category with a really nice 2.2K IPS display, all-metal design, and gem-cut corners. The design language borrows a lot from the Specter line, although this is not a convertible. By the way, I do have its sibling, the HP Omnibook Flip Ultra (or Ultra Flip, I don’t remember the name), which will have a 2.8K OLED 120Hz display. But this one is really good. It’s a clamshell, and of course, it’s got a really nice keyboard and a glass Precision Touchpad. The premium all-metal design comes in this really nice Meteor Silver that shows very few fingerprints, and the design language is really, really solid. As far as performance, this is running the AMD Ryzen AI 9 375, with 12 cores and 24 threads, part of the Strix Point Zen 5. This will outperform the Intel Lunar Lake Core Ultra 7 250 8V that we saw in the Asus Zenbook S14, which we just reviewed. It will have better multi-core performance and similar or slightly better single-core performance. It also has integrated Radeon 890M graphics, so gaming is definitely possible if you tweak the settings, and 4K video editing is also within reach.
This is a really solid all-rounder for consumers who want a premium laptop in 2024.
